Recessed LED Lighting Modules

Recessed LED Lighting Modules:                  Standard Light Bulb:

            Electricity use: 8.9 Watts                               Electricity use: 65 Watts

            Cost: $50.00                                                   Cost: $5.00

            Rebate: Up to $15.00                                     Rebate: None

Advantages Recessed LED Lighting Modules:

            This product uses 1/7th the electricity of a standard 65 Watt light bulb. Recessed LED Module can be used in any 6″ housing (Indoors or Outdoors). And also approved for use over showers and tubs. And can be used with dimmers.

Costs:  Product cost per unit: $50.00

            A standard white baffle trim ring and 65 Watt light bulb is approx. $25.00. You do not need these parts as the module is all in one.

            The LED module is still $25.00 more than conventional recessed lighting until you use the rebates that are available from the power suppliers.

Rebates as of 2/1/2013:

            RPU: $15.00 per unit

            Xcel Energy: $15.00 per unit

            Kasson Public Utility’s: $15.00

            Peoples CO-OP: $2.00 per unit

            The cost for standard bulb replacement for 5 years could average $25.00.

            Using the rebates from RPU, Xcel Energy and Kasson Public Utility’s the cost of the LED Module is now $10.00 more than conventional lighting. But considering the fact of not having to pay for replacement costs for 5 years due to the warranty of the LED Module along with daily energy savings the savings could be substantial per unit.

            The manufacturer believes the Recessed LED Modules may last as long as 23 years.

            Peoples CO-OP rebate may not help up front as much but considering the 5 year warranty and the life of the bulb and the energy savings you will still see an overall savings. And with more interest we assume Peoples CO-OP will increase the rebates.

Disadvantages:

            Initial cost.

In summation initial cost minus rebate, minus replacement savings equal a $15.00 per unit savings not including the daily energy savings.
